The Teachers

Sandra Lees – F.B.A.T.D, Adjudicator S.O.B.H.D, Examiner B.A.T.D, International Lecturer, Choreographer.

Sandra has been teaching highland dancing continuously since 1980. She was trained in Highland, Ballet, Tap and Jazz and was a competitive dancer in all disciplines. She enjoyed many successes as a championship competitor and performed for many years in the Kings Theatre Glasgow with a light Opera Group. She has also danced for some amazing people including Prince Charles, Sean Connery, Ronnie Corbett, at Gleneagles Hotel and Turnberry Hotels.

Her commitment to dancing has never diminished and Sandra has worked on various committees to assist in the development of highland dancing.

Sandra has enjoyed lecturing championship dances, Scottish National dances, Hornpipes and Jigs and delivered many choreography sessions at many events in Scotland, England, France, Canada and South Africa.

She was the West Dunbartonshire Schools Choreographer for a dance event staged in the famous Millennium Dome, London, casting over 50 dancers.

Sandra enjoys travelling all over the world judging, lecturing and and participating in competitions and dance events. 

Margo Lusk - A.B.A.T.D

Margo has been teaching with Sandra for many years and assists with the running of the dance school. She is dedicated to highland dancing and totally committed to teaching dancers to a high standard. She assists with class work, examinations and show work and also travels to the Western isles (Uist) to take classes and workshops. Margo danced with great success in many championships and competitions and her love of highland dancing continues as she passes the skills and knowledge to dance students. 

Margo is also the treasurer for Lomond and Argyll Highland Dancing Festivals.


Nicola Mills – A.B.A.T.D

Nicola is Sandra’s niece and been dancing since the age of 2. Nicola has many successes in dance including holding the B.A.T.D Scottish Modern Championship title. Nicola won the B.A.T.D Senior Highland Scholarship in 1999 and danced at the B.A.T.D Millennium showcase in the year 2000 in Bournmouth.  Nicola now has her 6-year-old daughter Sophie dancing and she loves competing too.


Nicola Brown - M.B.A.T.D

World finalist for 7 consecutive years at Cowal Highland Gathering. Nicola is a very close friend and colleague.  Having graduated as a High School Geography Teacher, Nicola is now living in Oban, Argyll and Bute.  Nicola still takes every opportunity to dance and has recently enjoyed being part of the Basel Tattoo Dance team. Nicola often is seen at competitions and dance events and is a fabulous support for students and events.


Mhairi Hennigan - A.B.A.T.D

Mhairi passed her Associate exam in 2005 and has assisted with the development of Primary and Beginners classes. She is a dedicated dancer and teacher and works hard to balance her career and dancing life. Mhairi frequently comes to class and supports the younger dancers.


Natalie Rosie – A.B.A.T.D

Natalie passed her Associate exam in August 2015. She has attended the Lees School of Dance since the age of 10 and has enjoyed many dancing successes at competitions, games and scholarships.  Natalie has spent the last 4 years of her life pushing herself as a dancer and performer and currently training at Starquest in London to develop stage branches.

She frequently attends classes and brings her fun personality and new skills to class


Rhianne Dow – A.B.A.T.D

Rhianne passed her Associate Exam in April 2015. She has been a loyal school member since the age of 9. Rhianne is now at university and we hope to see her back at class in the future.


Lisa Connolly – A.B.A.T.D

Lisa passed her Associate Exam in April 2015. She now assists with the Tartan Tots and Beginners Classes and the children simply adore her. Her lovely manners coupled with her dance knowledge is a welcome asset and she greatly assists with getting very young dancers to settle at class and start making progress.


Megan Buckley

Megan passed her Associate Exam in April 2015. She still attends 3 classes per week to keep her dance fitness and technique up to her full potential. She successfully performed in the Edinburgh Military Tattoo in 2015 and looking at dance opportunities in 2016.


Zoe Johnstone - A.B.A.T.D

Zoe passed her associate exam in 2015. She is now a qualified Primary School Teacher working in Falkirk.  Zoe comes to class regularly and aiming to sit her membership exam in the future
